I.The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) has established
these Directions to award scholarships—specifically the
Outstanding Overseas Compatriot Students Scholarship and the
Excellent Overseas Compatriot Students Scholarship ("the Scholarships")—
to currently-enrolled overseas compatriot students who demonstrate
outstanding or excellent academic and conduct records.
II.Overseas compatriot students currently enrolled in schools must
meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the Scholarships:
(1)Outstanding Overseas Compatriot Students Scholarship: Applicants
must be enrolled in the second year or above of a college or
university (or the fourth year or above of a five-year junior
college). They must have achieved an overall average academic
score of 80 or higher in the previous academic year and a
conduct grade of Grade A (80 points or higher) for both semesters.
However, students enrolled in master's or doctoral programs
are ineligible to apply.
(2)Excellent Overseas Compatriot Students Scholarship: Applicants
must be enrolled in the second or third year of a secondary
school or higher-level institution. They must have achieved
an overall average academic score (or a converted grade
equivalent) of 85 or higher in the previous academic year
and must not have received any disciplinary penalty of a
warning or higher.
Students from Hong Kong or Macau currently enrolled in domestic
colleges or universities—having come to Taiwan for further
studies in accordance with the "Regulations for Hong Kong and
Macao Residents Studying in Taiwan"—may also apply if they
meet the eligibility criteria specified in Subparagraph (1) above.
III.Students meeting the criteria in the preceding point shall
complete an application form and submit it to their respective
schools, attaching their academic transcripts from the previous
academic year and other relevant documents.
Each school shall thoroughly review the aforementioned application
documents. Upon completion of the review, the school shall compile
a ranked list of eligible students recommended for the award
and submit it to the OCAC via official correspondence.
Review records shall be retained by the school for five years
for future reference.
IV.The number of awards and the award amounts shall be determined
by the OCAC. In the event that the number of applicants exceeds
the quota set by the OCAC, awards shall be granted within the
quota based on the ranking order provided in the lists submitted
by the schools.
Regarding scholarships specified in Point 2, Paragraph 1,
Subparagraph 1, the OCAC shall evaluate candidates based on the
recommended ranking order submitted by the schools and the students'
academic performance. Recipients shall first be selected based on
the quota for the " Outstanding Overseas Compatriot Students
Scholarship" for the current year, followed by the selection of
recipients based on the quota for the "Excellent Overseas
Compatriot Students Scholarship."
V.The list of approved scholarship recipients shall be communicated
by the OCAC to the respective schools for public announcement,
and the scholarships shall be awarded by the schools in a timely
manner.
VI.If a student awarded under these Directions is found to have
submitted falsified or untrue information, the OCAC shall
publicly revoke their eligibility and reclaim any scholarship
funds already disbursed; legal action may also be pursued if
necessary. |
